Angkor: choose the pass for the circuit you can finish

Choose an Angkor pass by the number of days you will use, rather than the name of a tour circuit. Angkor Enterprise’s ticket page lists one-day, three-day and seven-day passes. All list entry from 05:00 to 18:30; the three-day pass expires within seven days and the seven-day pass within 30 days. Confirm the price and conditions on the official page before paying.

The official FAQ says the Angkor pass includes all temples within the archaeological park. Its Small Circuit and Grand Circuit suggestions are itinerary guidance, not separate ticket-access tiers. A valid pass still does not open a closed structure or restricted stairway.

Match the pass to the route#

Use one day when your priority is a compact visit to Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm with a realistic return to Siem Reap. Use multiple days when you want to spread out the Small and Grand Circuits or need shorter mornings for children, heat-sensitive visitors or slower walkers. A longer pass is useful because it lets you stop without turning every temple into a race.

The FAQ states that three-day and seven-day purchases require a photo, while a one-day ticket does not. Children under 12 are exempt from the entrance fee but may need a passport to prove age; the upper tower is restricted to visitors aged 12 and over. Carry the identification the official terms require for each traveller.

The FAQ’s one-day ticket answer says a one-day ticket bought after 16:45 for the next day can also be used that evening for sunset. Read that rule literally and check the date shown on your confirmation. It is a ticketing convenience, not a reason to skip the next day’s entry window or assume every sunset area is open.

Build a slower transport loop#

Name the first temple, the last temple and the meeting point before leaving. A tuk-tuk, car or guide should know which circuit is included and where the vehicle waits while you walk. Temple distances, heat and queues make a generic “small tour” duration unreliable. Download your confirmation and the park information before departure.

Wear clothing suitable for temple access, carry water and use the shade available at managed areas. Stay on visitor paths, keep away from walls and reliefs, and follow staff directions at narrow stairs. Do not feed wildlife, leave food or packaging, or create a shortcut through vegetation. If a site is closed, use the official alternative that fits your pass rather than crossing a barrier.
