Moraine Lake in 2026: reserve the shuttle and keep the two-lake day realistic

For the 2026 summer service, Parks Canada says access to Moraine Lake Road is by its shuttle system rather than a private-car visit. The main service runs 1 June to 12 October, requires a reservation, and begins and ends at Lake Louise Park and Ride. The official timetable lists regular departures from the Park and Ride, a last return, and a Lake Connector between Lake Louise Lakeshore and Moraine Lake. Alpine Start is a separate early option with different departure and parking arrangements. Parks Canada released 2026 seats in stages, including a later release before departure. That can help a flexible visitor, but it does not make a particular Saturday available. Create the account first, choose the correct starting service and allow time for check-in at the Park and Ride. If both lakes matter, leave daylight for the connector and watch the last return instead of designing the day around the final bus.

Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are separate walks once you arrive. Check the current Parks Canada notice for trail status, weather and any seasonal operating change. Carry water and layers for exposed alpine weather, and use marked paths. A shuttle reservation solves the road-access problem; it does not guarantee clear trails, an empty viewpoint or enough time for every hike.
