Mount Fuji Yoshida Trail in 2026: the 2 p.m. gate changes the climb

The Yoshida Trail is a regulated high-altitude route. Fujiyoshida’s 2026 information lists a 1 July–10 September season, a ¥4,000 hiking fee and a daily cap of 4,000 climbers. The fifth-station gate is listed as closed from 14:00 to 03:00 unless a hut reservation qualifies the climber for later entry (Fujiyoshida 2026 information; Mount Fuji official climbing notice).

A gate payment is not a summit guarantee. The official route comparison gives approximate fifth-station ascent and descent times of about 6 hours 40 minutes and 3 hours 30 minutes. It also describes altitude and route differences that make a sunrise attempt a serious mountain plan rather than a short city excursion (official route comparison). Get to the gate with the right transport plan#

During the main period the Fuji Subaru Line restricts private vehicles and shuttle buses serve the fifth station from Fuji-san Parking. Confirm the current bus departure and return plan before leaving the lower town. Reaching the parking area is not the same as reaching the trail gate, and a full daily quota can end the climb before the first step.

Carry warm layers, water, food and footwear suited to loose volcanic ground. Wind, cold and altitude can affect a person who felt comfortable below the fifth station. Stop and descend if someone develops concerning altitude symptoms; use local staff and emergency guidance rather than forcing the timetable. Do not leave litter or shortcut switchbacks.
