Mount Toubkal from Imlil: check the guide and refuge arrangement before climbing

Confirm the refuge chain#

Treat Imlil transport, the approach walk, refuge reservation, guide or porter arrangement and summit-day return as separate bookings. The standard sequence uses Imlil as the approach village and a mountain refuge before the summit. Ask the licensed operator what is included, where the group meets and how a weather delay is handled. Summer heat, winter snow and ice, and shoulder-season weather need different equipment and timing. Carry layers for a cold refuge and exposed summit morning, water and food that remain accessible, and shoes for steep scree. Altitude and the descent can be harder than the comfortable valley approach. If a guide, refuge manager or authority changes the plan, follow that instruction rather than forcing a summit itinerary.
